Occupational Therapy for Schools

CATS now offers a flexible Occupational Therapy service for schools.

Schools can buy in an Occupational Therapist for a full day, a number of days across the academic year, or a set number of hours to meet the needs of their pupils and staff team. This service is available to mainstream schools, specialist schools and alternative provisions.

Our school-based Occupational Therapists are highly experienced clinicians with additional training in sensory integration. They understand the demands of busy school environments and can offer practical, child-centred support that works in real classrooms.

How schools can use our OT service

Schools can use their Occupational Therapy time in the way that is most helpful for them. This may include:

  • Occupational Therapy assessments for individual pupils
  • Direct intervention sessions
  • Sensory processing assessments and advice
  • Creating individual sensory diets or regulation plans
  • Supporting pupils with functional skills, handwriting, independence and participation
  • Whole-class advice and strategies
  • Staff consultation and problem-solving
  • Staff training and workshops
  • Advice on making the school environment more sensory-friendly
  • Support to set up programmes such as sensory circuits
  • Practical advice around regulation, movement breaks and classroom adaptations

Our aim is to provide support that is realistic, useful and easy for schools to put into practice.

Flexible support for your school

We know that every school is different. Some schools may want regular Occupational Therapy input throughout the year, while others may need a one-off assessment day, training session or block of intervention.

CATS can offer preferable rates for schools who book a block of Occupational Therapy time.
