CBT & Mental Health Services

Provided by Will Mertens

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is widely recognised as one of the most effective evidence based treatments for anxiety and depression.

CBT involves learning and understanding the relationships between our thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and behaviours and how each can influence the other. By identifying and understanding these relationships we can recognise which specific interventions are needed for positive change and recovery.

The skills we learn in CBT can be applied throughout our lives to improve our well-being and to help us reduce and avoid unnecessary suffering. CBT helps us to learn how to cope independently without a reliance on others so that we can thrive even if support is not immediately available.

    Mental Health Support

Mental Health Support can be provided for difficulties that in isolation may not necessarily reach diagnostic criteria but still raise concerns or have a negative impact on life and functioning.

Each child, young person and their family are unique and an assessment helps to determine their specific needs and any person centred individual and familial goals for treatment.

Difficulties such as emotional dysregulation, social communication difficulties, deliberate self-harm or self-neglect may benefit from specific mental health support interventions. These interventions may include but not be limited to risk management, relationship guidance, emotional identification and regulation and learning and developing social skills.
