At CATS, our children’s physiotherapist has the knowledge and skills to support your child's physical development.
We provide support for children and babies who may have:
- Delayed gross motor skills
- Difficulties with coordination and endurance, including hypermobility.
- Musculoskeletal problems, including post injury
- We are also able to assess and support children and babies with a range of other difficulties
Sometimes, upon reviewing your child's referral, we may not feel that your child is right for our service. If this is the case we will signpost you to other services which may be able to help.

What to expect from a physiotherapy appointment
Your first session will be an initial consultation consisting of a full assessment, treatment and exercise recommendations and will last about an hour. This will involve a detailed examination to pinpoint exactly how we can help.
During the appointment, the physiotherapist will ask questions about your concerns and the nature of the problem, as well as information about your child's general development. They will then observe their movement which may include assessment of strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and joint and muscle-specific testing.
Following the assessment, the physiotherapist will explain the findings, provide a short report, and exercise recommendations to continue at home. Should your child require a follow-up appointment with the physiotherapist they will discuss this with you after the appointment.
As part of your consultation, we may take photographs/videos of your child to construct their exercise recommendations and analyse posture, movement and gait analysis. We will seek your permission before taking any photos/videos and delete material as soon as possible.
We are unable to provide assessments specifically for EHCP assessments and review, and our therapists cannot advise on school placements or therapy hours required. However, our assessment reports can be used as supporting evidence for EHCP applications and shared with your child's school and other professionals to ensure continuity of support strategies.
We offer assessment services to clients in Norfolk, Suffolk and North East Essex. If you would like to make a referral to our physiotherapy service, please fill out the referral form. A member of the team will contact you within five working days.
